Installing the socket fan
Updated September 28, 2026
No wiring and no electrician. It takes a few minutes.
1. Attach the blades
The blades come packed separately. Insert each blade with the arrow on it pointing toward the socket end, and push until it clicks into place. They only fit one way.
2. Switch off and take out the bulb
Turn off the wall switch for that light, and let the bulb cool before you remove it.
3. Screw in the fan
Hold the fan by both the top section and the body, and turn it to the right (clockwise) to screw it in. Make it snug and secure, but don’t overtighten it.
For a recessed light, screw the 6-inch extender into the can first, then screw the fan into the extender the same way.
4. Switch on and set it up
Turn the wall switch back on. The fan and light start on their default settings. Pull the plastic tab out of the remote’s battery compartment to activate it, then adjust everything from the remote. Test the fan on a low setting first to check it’s securely connected.
Keep the remote in its wall holder so it always has a home.
Safety
- Install it at least 8 feet above the floor, and keep it out of children’s reach.
- Don’t bend the blade brackets, and never put anything into the blades.
- If you’re unsure whether your light’s wiring is suitable, ask a qualified electrician.
